Gujarat is a year-round destination, but the experience changes a lot with the season. Picking the right month decides whether you enjoy a cool desert night or sit through a heatwave.
October to February: peak season
Winter is the best time for most of Gujarat. Days are pleasant, nights are cool and the Rann of Kutch comes alive with the Rann Utsav. Book hotels and vehicles early, because this is when demand is highest.
- Kutch and the White Rann: November to February
- Gir National Park and Somnath: December to March
- Ahmedabad heritage walks: October to February
March to June: plan around the heat
Summers are hot, especially in Saurashtra and Kutch. If you travel in this period, start early, rest in the afternoon and keep sightseeing for the morning and evening. Hill stations like Saputara are a good escape.
July to September: green and quiet
The monsoon turns Gujarat green. Waterfalls, forts and hill roads look their best, and crowds are thinner. Allow extra travel time and avoid long drives after dark on wet roads.
